Wedding Shoes and What to Choose
/There’s no doubt that the moment I show up to photograph your wedding, I’m dying to see your shoe choice. And there’s no right or wrong choice here. There’s nothing I’m “hoping” you chose. I just LOVE seeing the difference in choice.
Over the years I’ve seen it all from top notch Red Bottoms to Kate Spade sneaks. I’m never not in awe of someone’s shoe choice on wedding day. Plus, shoes are one of my favorite things to photograph!
In case you were wondering what shoes to go with…here are some examples of some of my favorite shoes I’ve seen over the years. And I will say that Badgley Mischka is the NUMBER ONE chosen brand! So…if you didn’t know where to start…there’s your sign ;)
Some tips to remember…
Comfortability. You’ll be in these shoes for HOURS…unless you decide to change for the reception. So you’ll want something you can move in. Walk in. Dance in.
Consider your location. Stilettos probably aren’t the smartest choice for an outdoor lawn wedding. But they are perfect for ballrooms. Wedges may not fit your extravagant theme, but they work great for garden weddings.
Style. You definitely want your shoes to tell the story of who you are and the style of your wedding. Choose wisely.
Length of Dress. If your dress is long enough, your shoes may not show much at all throughout the day…therefore you may not need to blow lots of dough on them. However, a shorter gown means you’ll be showing them off all day…so you may want to splurge!
Preparation. I’ll be photographing your shoes…so you definitely want them fresh and clean. But I’d totally suggest walking around the house in them a few times. Wash the dishes in your wedding shoes. Break them in a bit. The last thing you want is to not enjoy your wedding because of the blisters on your feet!
What’s your ideal wedding shoe? Are you a comfort or beauty type of bride? If you had to choose a pair above, which would it be and why?
