A Southern Engagement Session with City Roots at Glencairn Gardens and Downtown Charlotte
/Tray hails from the South, where she loves the greenery, the landscape, the flowers, the heat and sweet tea! James is a northern transplant and embodies everything that is city life. So when figuring out what would help tell their love story, we decided to incorporate elements of sweet southern charm with urban rooftop views.
These two lovebirds, who were introduced by their moms (YES!!! This is my second couple who was introduced by their families in the last year! You may remember Mimi and Brandon who met a very similar way!) have a chemistry to die for!! Tray expressed her nervousness at the start of our session, so I had them give me one standard look at me pose and then I just let them be with each other and interact until I knew they were truly comfortable and giving me their real selves.
To date, this is one of my favorite engagement sessions. Tray and James BOTH completely trusted me and all my silly suggestions. They allowed me to use my creativity to capture them in their essence. They let me play with new ideas. They truly melted into each scenario I put them in and at one point, Tray allowed herself to be so vulnerable in her emotion that tears flowed. She apologized profusely but through my own tears, I just said “girl let it flow!!! Feel those feelings!! That’s what we are here for!!!” and let me just tell you that the emotion I felt editing this whole session completely reverberates the emotion she felt during it.
I love love. And I love when I’m in the presence of real love. The time spent with these two is just what that was. Check it out and drop some comments below!! Which image is your favorite?
Stay on the lookout next year for the followup to their love story! They get married at Noah’s Event Venue in March!!
